Visakhapatnam is all set to make global headlines with the unveiling of India’s longest glass skywalk at Kailasagiri Hills. Built using triple-layered, 40mm thick tempered laminated glass imported from Germany, the structure is reinforced with around 40 tons of steel to ensure maximum durability. What makes it even more special is that it surpasses Kerala’s Vagamon bridge (38 meters) to hold the record as India’s longest glass bridge.
Safety Above All
While the structure can physically support over 100 people at a time, authorities plan to restrict entry to 40 visitors per round. This ensures both safety and a less-crowded, more enjoyable experience. Engineers have also made the bridge resilient to extreme coastal weather, with the ability to withstand winds blowing at up to 250 km/h.
Cost and Construction Journey
The project, costing close to ₹7 crore, was developed by the Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority (VMRDA) through a public-private partnership. Beyond being a tourist attraction, the skywalk is expected to contribute significantly to local employment and boost tourism-related revenue for Andhra Pradesh.
Visitor Experience
