The army said that the operation was in response to the Pahalgam terrorist attack in the Indian administered Jammu & Kashmir on 22nd April 2025 in which 26 civilians were killed.

India accused Pakistan of supporting cross-border terrorism, which Pakistan denied.

On 7th May, Indian launched Operation Sindoor with Missile Strikes on terrorist infrastructure facilities of Pakistan based militant groups Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba in Pakistan and Pakistan administered Azad Kashmir and said no Pakistani Military or Civilian Facility was targeted.

In response to these strikes, Pakistan’s army retaliated with drone attacks on the Indian Soil damaging the civilians area in Poonch.

During the early hours on 10th May, the Pakistan’s army launched missile attacks on Indian Air Bases, to which the Indian army responded with highly adequate defense systems. Following which the Indian Army launched missiles on several Pakistan’s air bases, including Nur Khan air base, Rafiqi air base and Murid air base.
